BEN LOMOND LADIES THURSDAY GOLF ASSOCIATION
BY-LAWS AND RULES
Article 1. Name
The name of this organization shall be the Ben Lomond Ladies Thursday Golf Association, which is a nine-hole and evening association, and 18-hole day association.
Article 2. Purpose
The purpose of this organization shall be to foster and sponsor ladies golf at Ben Lomond Golf Course.
Article 3. Membership
Section 1. Any woman in the State of Utah may claim membership in this association, upon payment of dues.
Section 2. Any member may compete in the Ben Lomond Ladies Thursday Golf Association as long as she has an established handicap based on UGA/GHIN.
Article 4. Officers
The Officers of this association shall be:

3. Secretary-Treasurer
4. Two Tournament Chairpersons One Association Tournament Chairperson to work with Ben Lomond Golf Course Pro. (Updated Oct 2012)
Note: The Handicap Chairperson will be eliminated due to U.S.G.A. computerized handicap system.
Article 5. Amendments
The constitution may be amended at any time, requiring two-thirds majority vote of members present, when voting on change to any by-laws.
BY-LAWS
Article 1. Duties of Officers
Section 1. The president shall preside at all meetings; act as ex-officio member of all committees. She may call special meetings with the consent of the other officers.
Section 2. The Vice-President shall assume the duties of the President in her absence. She shall be responsible for organizing the calling committee and all tournament luncheons. She shall be responsible for coffee and roll service at all tournaments. The Vice President will become the President for the next year.
Section 3. The Secretary-Treasurer shall keep a record of all receipts and an itemized account of all disbursements. She shall receive all monies and pay all debts. A record shall be kept of all club meetings. She shall take care of all club correspondence and prepare a financial statement that will be presented at the closing social.
Section 4. The Association Tournament Chairperson along with the Ben Lomond Golf Course Pro shall supervise and be responsible for all tournaments and shall appoint a chairperson for the night ladies. The tournament chairpersons will serve for minimum (but not limited to) of two years on a staggered basis. Each year one new chairperson will be elected to serve with the remaining chairperson. Article 2. Meetings
Section 1. The Officers organizational year shall be from the closing banquet to be held in October to the Closing banquet, the following October.
Section 2. The second Thursday in April of each year shall be the beginning day of play for the Association. An opening banquet and business meeting shall be held prior to this day.
Article 3. Dues
Section 1. The amount for dues shall be determined by the officers in accordance with the current needs and shall be voted on by membership at the closing social for the next year.
Section 2. Dues shall be payable at the opening banquet or the first day of play by the joining member. Dues are non-refundable. A new association member must pay 1/2 of the dues if joining after July 1st. (Updated Oct 2013)
Section 3. Receipt for dues shall go to the member upon her request.
Article 4. Elections
Section 1. Election of officers shall be held at an open meeting at the closing social. The President shall appoint a nominating committee. Any lady shall be eligible for an office if she is a member of the Ben Lomond Ladies Thursday Golf Association and has a valid UGA/GHIN Card. Nominations may come from the floor; however, any person nominated from the floor must be present at the election.
Article 5. Vacancies
Section 1. If the office of President becomes vacant, the vice-President is to succeed. A new Vice-President is then to be voted on by all members at a special meeting.
Section 2. If any of the other offices become vacant, the President shall appoint someone from the active membership to succeed.
Article 6. Tournaments
Section 1. All activities shall be governed by U.S.G.A. Rules and Conduct of Women’s Golf.
Section 2. Only members may compete for Ladies Association prizes.
Section 3. Tournaments will consist of one low gross, one low net, one low putts, and one fun game per month. (Updated Oct 2013) Updated April 2014
Section 4. The Championship shall be held in August and will be played on a Thursday and Friday of the same week, but never on Labor Day weekend. (Updated October 2013) (Updated October 2014)
The Club Championship shall be held in August and must be played on the same days and at the same time by all participating. will be played on two (2) consecutive Thursdays (weather permitting). (Updated Oct 2012)
Section 5. Any member of the Thursday Ladies Association may play in the Club Championship; however, to be eligible to be club champion, she must have played a minimum of 50 percent of the tournaments beginning with the first day of play in April. She must also maintain a UGA/GHIN handicap. Ladies who do not meet the 50 percent eligibility may still participate in the club championship for all other prizes. The club champion receives an amount from the pro shop (to be determined by the golf course) to be used as green fees.
Section 6. A weekly tournament consists of 6 players. (Added Oct. 2012) At the beginning of each weekly tournament: if there are six to eight players, the payout will be for one flight only; if there are nine or more players, the payout will be for two flights. (Added October, 2013).
Section 7. For the Member/Guest Tournament the Ben Lomond Golf Course Pro will determine/provide the Association with a handicap for any guest who does not have a UGA Card/membership. Member/Member Teams will be charged double entry prize fee. (Added Oct. 2012)

Article 7: Committees
Section 1. A separate committee will be formed to decorate tables for each tournament and luncheon. The committees will be established at the Opening Social.
RULES
Section 1. The ground rules will be determined by the course pro on the day of play.
Section 2. Handicaps.
a. All scores are to be properly adjusted before entering into the computer.
b. All adjusted scores will be posted in the computerized handicap system.
c. Any officer has the right to compare scores posted in the computer to scores turned in, at any time.
d. All cards must be signed, whether it is 9 or 18 holes.
e. Scores are to be posted in the computer starting the first association day and continue until closing social.
f. An officer has the right to question any member about her handicap, and any member has the right to question the officer. If any difficulty arises, it should be presented to the President, who shall try to resolve it.
g. If there is a tie for ladies day prizes, the winner will be determined using the hole method; e.g. the lowest handicap hole.
h. Any new proposals, when presented, will be voted upon by all members present at the luncheon and approved by two-thirds attending.
