CLOSING SOCIAL MINUTES
October 4, 2012
The Ben Lomond Thursday
Ladies Golf Association held the 2012 season closing social at the Ben Lomond
Club House.
Chris Williams welcomed
everyone. She thanked the table
decoration committee and all the support the members have offered throughout
the season. Everyone thanked Chris and
Craig Williams for the salmon dinner donation.
Prior to the Closing
Social dinner, the Presidency and Gayle Dalpias met with Jeff Cliften to
discuss some of the Association Bylaws.
They are as follows:
1.
A new approach to
the Tournament Chairperson duties was discussed. Jeff Cliften, Pro at BL Pro Shop, and
Association Tournament Co-Chairperson for 2013, Tina Mildon, would accept the
duties. The weekly tournament process
would consist of each woman paying for their golf fees at the Golf Course pro
shop along with $4 for 18-hole or $2 for 9-hole tournaments. The Association Tournament Co-Chairperson
would have each woman draw a card to determine the 3- or 4-some they would play
with for the day. At the end of each
weekly tournament, the Pro at the Pro shop would process the scores to
determine the weekly winners of the 9-hole tournament and would return $2 per
golfer to the Association Tournament Co-Chairperson. The Association Tournament Co-Chairperson
would process the 18-hole winners and payout, along with responsibility for
Ringer board, birdie, and chip in payouts at the end of the season. The 9-hole
winners would have weekly access to their prize money from the pro shop or the
balance maintained on the computer to use at a later date. These prizes would
consist of $10 for 1st place and $5 for 2nd place for
each flight. The weekly 18-hole winners would receive cash at the following
monthly luncheon date.
2.
The Member/Guest
Tournament was discussed. It was passed
that Jeff could provide the Association with a handicap for a woman who did not
have a UGA card and handicap. They could
bring 3 score cards from previous play or a handicap could be figured out with
the score from the Member/Guest play of the day. Any member/member teams would be charged
double for the entry fee (prize money) in order to discourage this type of
Member/Guest team. Prior to the day of
the Tournament, the Presidency could advertise at the Northern tournament play
or other Associations could be called to scout out guests for members without
guests for the tournament.
3.
The Club
Championship Tournament was discussed.
There was a motion to change the play days from Wednesday/Thursday of
the same week to Thursday/Thursday which would mean the Tournament would be
played in a combination of 2 weeks. The
motion was seconded and voted upon. The
Thursday/Thursday option passed. It will
be scheduled as such next year to see how it works out.
4.
The number of
players to determine a tournament was changed to 6 players (from 8).
Putts money will be
deposited into the Association checking account to be held until next year when
a larger donation can be made to an organization in need.
